Sasha Pevak

Biography
Sasha Pevak (born in 1988 in Moscow) is an art-researcher and independent curator. He lives and works between Paris and Moscow. PhD student and lecturer at Paris 8 University, Sasha Pevak is particularly interested in the relationship between art and power and is currently writing a thesis entitled “The Body of Artist as a Place of Resistance in Soviet and Russian Art After 1974″, under the direction of Prof. Jérôme Glicenstein. After graduating from Lomonosov Moscow State University and Paris-Sorbonne University, Sasha Pevak worked at Monumenta (2014) and at Le frac île-de-france – le plateau (2015). In 2016-2017, he was a member of the Editorial Board of the magazine Marges. Between 2015 and 2018, he participated in numerous conferences and curated exhibitions; in 2017, he co-curated The Opposing Shore at the 7th Biennale of Contemporary Art in Moscow, and in 2018 a Carte blanche of the Ukrainian artist Nikita Kadan at the Gallery Jérôme Poggi in Paris. He was also a guest curator in residency at the GENERATOR in Rennes (March 2017), the CCI Fabrika in Moscow (September 2017) and Thankyouforcoming/ACROSS in Nice (December 2017). In 2018, he presented a project to Michael at DOC! (in the frame of the festival Jerk Off, Paris, September 2018) and a show The Border is a State of Mind for the Gallery Jérôme Poggi and the FIAC in October-November 2018.
